PET/CT Imaging Now Available Five Days Per Week

Cancer

After providing PET/CT services one day per week for several years, Sonora Regional Medical Center is now proud to offer this important diagnostic service five days per week after recently purchasing a GE Discovery DST PET/CT machine.

Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) is an imaging tool used to assist physicians in staging and re-staging cancer patients. PET/CT helps determine the best course of treatment after a patient has been diagnosed with cancer and is also used after chemotherapy or radiation to see if the cancer has responded to treatment.

“We are committed to providing world-class cancer care here in our community,” says Andrew Jahn, President and CEO of Sonora Regional Medical Center. “We have invested in this cutting edge piece of equipment as part of our commitment to Excellent Care Close to Home.”

This technology will be an important component of the Medical Center’s brand new, state-of-the-art cancer center which is scheduled for construction to begin later this year. “While we work towards the completion of the new building, we are pleased to offer this service on our main campus,” explains Jerry Kurtz, Director of Diagnostic Imaging at the Medical Center.
