Adventist Medical Center Receives Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll

Awards & Recognition

If you or a loved one is having a stroke, Adventist Medical Center is the place to go, according to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA). Adventist Medical Center has once again received the Get With the Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll. This is the highest stroke recognition available from the American Stroke Association and means that the hospital demonstrates ongoing success in ensuring that stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment. Adventist Medical Center has been recognized by the ASA each year since 2007.

This year the hospital was also placed on the Target: Stroke Honor Roll, which means we consistently provide TPA—the clot busting drug approved for treatment of stroke patients—within the 60 minute goal and meet additional quality measures. “We are committed to making sure every patient receives the right care at the right time, every time,” says Pam Almandingner, stroke program coordinator at Adventist Medical Center. “This award recognizes the hard work of our physicians, nurses and other team members in turning key guidelines into life-saving care.”

Get with the Guidelines helps Adventist Medical Center provide the most current, research-based treatments, with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing death and disability for stroke patients. The hospital earned the award by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level continuously for two years. These measures include timely and appropriate use of medications and risk-reduction therapies aimed at reducing death and disability and improving the lives of stroke patients.

According to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, stroke is the number five cause of death and a leading cause of adult disability in the United States.
