General Surgeon Joins Sierra Vascular and General Surgery Associates

Sonora Regional Medical Center welcomes Kenichi Miyata, MD, a general surgeon relocating to Sonora from the Central Valley. Dr. Miyata has spent the last six months on a temporary assignment with Sonora Regional Medical Center and has decided to join the medical staff full time.

Dr. Miyata grew up in Simi Valley, California, and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biochemistry and cellular biology from University of California, San Diego. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed residency training in general surgery at Virginia Mason Medical Center.

As a general surgeon, Dr. Miyata performs a wide array of procedures of the abdomen, skin and soft tissues. He also has a special interest in laparoscopic hernia repair and complex abdominal wall reconstruction for patients who have suffered multiple or recurrent hernias. “In surgery it is incredibly rewarding that, for many patients, you can help them immediately,” Dr. Miyata explains. “They come in sick and with surgery you can fix it right away. Having appreciative patients makes it very worthwhile.”

In his time away from work, Dr. Miyata is active in sports and enjoys football, basketball and baseball.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Miyata, please call Sierra Vascular and General Surgery Associates at (209) 536-5750.
