Thank you to our 2015 Summer Shadow Students

Awards & Recognition

What greater service can you give than to help someone be restored to health? Started in 1969, the Eve & Gene Black Summer Medical Career Program, sponsored by the Los Angeles Pediatric Society (LAPS), provides an introduction to a future in health care to Junior and Senior High School Students. The goal is to introduce deserving individuals to the rewards of a career in health care and to help the next generation discover the path to take to be successful in one of the fastest growing industries in the country.

White Memorial has partnered with LAPS for over 20 years to offer this program to students each summer. This year our 2015 Summer Shadow Students are: Matthew Louie, Mark Keppel School, Alexander Marquez, Bell Gardens High School, Sabrina Park, Mayfield Senior High School, and Mia Rodgriguez, Ramona Convent. They began their time at WMMC on Monday, July 6 and will leave us on Friday, July 31 having spent time in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, ED, Pharmacy, Social Work, Rehabilitation, Ob/Gyn, Laboratory, Operating Room, Ophthalmology and Ortho. Let’s give them warm welcome! Special thanks go to Patricia Sandoval and Georgia Froberg from Med. Ed.who have been instrumental in coordinating this program for our future generations of caregivers!
