Congratulations to our latest Hero winner, Georgia Froberg, Director of Medical Education!

Awards & Recognition

The Leadership & Employee Development Council has recently selected a new member to join the Heroes Club. This special award is bestowed on physicians, employees and volunteers who exemplify the White Memorial Mission and go the extra mile to preserve high standards at the White. Congratulations to our latest winner, Georgia Froberg, Director of Medical Education!

It is rare in our lives that we come across someone so committed about what they do that they inspire others to do likewise. This nomination is not just for Georgia’s many years (42!) of service but for the passion in which she serves. Georgia’s expertise in the selection and mentoring process of her medical residents and summer shadow students (see article on page 2) is legendary. Her ability to coach and mentor new WMMC Leaders as the Director Peer Group Chair is admirable and very much appreciated.

Most who know her know very well that Georgia has been lovingly named the “Decorating Queen,” as she is always able to transform a bare room, patio or gym into something spectacular, and she continues to do it after all these years, over and over and over again from the Employee Christmas Brunch to the Resident Graduation, Benefits Fair, Hospital & Nurses Week and more. If you ever need to come up with a good theme for an event, Georgia is your go-to girl. Her creativity, resourcefulness and out-of-the-box thinking conjure up decorating ideas that she then, along with her Med Ed team of elves, turns into a magical reality. The fact she has more than one storage room full of decorating supplies helps, too!

Decorating Queen is one of many ‘extracurricular’ roles and responsibilities Georgia has taken on that is not listed on her job description. She has served on and led countless committees throughout her tenure at WMMC, helped employees understand the rich legacy of our hospital by playing an important acting role as White Memorial Founder Ellen G. White at New Employee Orientation, and even participated as a member of the popular singing group ‘The Monotones.’ Georgia champions causes with fervor. She gives unconditionally to those she loves and with whom she works, and as Mama Bear she is especially proud of those medical residents who become attending physicians at the White. For these reasons, and so many more, we can’t think of anyone more deserving of the Hero Award than our beloved Decorating Queen, Georgia Froberg.
