Cardiac Rehabilitation Returns to GAMC

Heart Health

When patients have had a heart attack or other type of significant heart event, cardiac rehabilitation is essential to their recovery, slowing the progression of heart disease and reducing the risk for a recurring cardiac event.

“GAMC is proud to once again offer this supportive program for the community,” says Michael O’Connor, director of Cardiology Services. “We can provide more seamless care across the continuum for patients with heart conditions.”

The goal of GAMC’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program is to strengthen a patient’s body after the following events:

  • Heart attack
  • Coronary bypass surgery
  • Coronary stenting
  • Pacemaker implantation
  • Heart failure
  • Heart valve replacement or repair

The program also provides nutritional counseling, resistance training/stretching and personal education on healthy eating, stress reduction, quitting smoking and other topics for patients. Patients can also form their own support network as they exercise with others.

To use our facility, located on the ground floor of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation building, patients will need an appointment and a referral from a physician. For more information, click here or call (818) 409-8099.
