Adventist Health Medical Group Welcomes Family Practitioner

Adventist Health Medical Group is pleased to welcome Carmen Ehlers, MD, to its growing family medicine team. Dr. Ehlers is board certified in Family Practice Medicine, and is fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Ehlers provides a full spectrum of care for the entire family. Having been raised in the mission field, it is her personal desire to help alleviate suffering in the world. By meeting patients where they are at and guiding them through a journey to better health, it is her goal to bring them from surviving to thriving. “Success in overall wellness is best accomplished through a deliberate process,” says Dr. Ehlers. “This involves careful study, evaluation, analysis, and consultation with the patient, in combination with their action, courage, discipline, patience and perseverance.”

She received her medical degree from National University of Rosario in Argentina, going on to complete a residency in Internal Medicine at River Plate Adventist Hospital in Argentina, followed by a Family Practice residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center (Cornell University affiliate) in Brooklyn, New York, where she also served as the chief resident.

Previously Dr. Ehlers served as the Medical Director at Yellowhawk Tribal Center in Mission, Ore., where she oversaw the nursing, pharmacy, laboratory and radiology departments. In 2012 Dr. Ehlers received an award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, “Excellence in Direct Patient Care” for “consistently demonstrating a high level of commitment and dedication to the health care delivery objectives.”

Carmen and her husband Ken Vyhmeister have a blended family consisting of sons Josiah, 13, and Jason, 27, and daughters Hannah, 19, Hannah, 21, and Chelsea, 25. She enjoys, bicycling, traveling, soccer, hiking, gardening, and playing the piano.
