Rideout Health Recognized by Healthgrades for Quality Clinical Outcomes

Rideout Press Releases

MARYSVILLE, Calif., November 11, 2014 -- Healthgrades, a leading provider of physician and hospital quality information, has again recognized Rideout Health and Rideout Memorial Hospital for clinical excellence in gynecological surgery, and the treatment of heart failure, awarding it five stars in each of these categories. A 5-star rating indicates that clinical outcomes are better than expected when treating the condition or conducting the procedures being evaluated, and that it outperforms other hospitals in the nation in these treatments.

Rideout has received the Excellence Award for Gynecologic Surgery (since 2011) and for the second year running for its treatment of heart failure

"We are pleased that the efforts of our physicians and other health professionals have been recognized with these five-star rankings by Healthgrades. These awards are a direct reflection of their dedication and their skill," said Robert Chason, CEO of Rideout Health. "Rideout's comprehensive cardiac care and women's health programs are two of the premier and long-standing medical services we offer the community."

Rideout is one of the few north state hospitals that is a designated STEMI-receiving center, staffed and equipped to handle the most serious heart attacks. Rideout's Heart Center offers a multidisciplinary approach to cardiac care, from surgery rehabilitation and prevention. As with cardiothoracic, gynecological surgeries offered at Rideout Memorial Hospital use both traditional and minimally-invasive techniques. Women's health will continue to be a key priority for the non-profit community healthcare organization. Rideout's well-regarded Women and Infants service, currently located at the Fremont Medical Center in Yuba City, will be getting a two-floor facility in the new Rideout Regional Medical Center in Marysville, scheduled to open next fall.

This achievement is part of new findings and data released on Healthgrades.com and in the Healthgrades 2015 Report to the Nation. Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at over 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 33 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions, and recognizes a hospital's quality achievements for cohort-specific performance, specialty area performance, and overall clinical quality. Healthgrades hospital ratings are independently created; no hospital can opt in or opt out of being rated, and no hospital pays to be rated. "Those hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades distinction have demonstrated a commitment to exceptional clinical quality care," said Evan Marks, Chief Strategy Officer, Healthgrades.

Rideout Health is the independent, non-profit, community-based healthcare organization that operates Rideout Memorial Hospital, Fremont Medical Center, the Rideout Cancer Center and other medical facilities around the Yuba-Sutter region. It also is the area's largest non-government employer. In fulfillment of its mission to provide quality healthcare to everyone, regardless of financial circumstance, in recent years the organization provided about $50 million annually in unreimbursed or free medical care to uninsured or under-insured patients.
