GAMC Partners with Physicians on Joint Surgical Venture

Partnership

GLENDALE, CA – In collaboration with its physician partners, Glendale Adventist Medical Center is pleased to announce the reopening of its newly accredited joint venture surgery center. It offers a full spectrum of specialized outpatient surgical procedures and is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the area.

The facility (which originally opened in 2008) was recently renamed Physicians Adventist Surgery Center (PASC) to reflect the joint venture. The hospital and physicians share ownership of this facility. However, ASD Management, experts in redeveloping centers like this facility, will oversee the day-to-day operations. (asdmanagement.com)  PASC reopened on Sept. 3, with the highest awarded accreditation (three years) from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (aaahc.org)

“This is a unique joint venture since it includes a diverse group of world-class surgeons in partnership with a renowned medical center.  We are honored to join forces in providing convenient, high quality outpatient surgery, next to a full-service hospital," said Kevin A. Roberts, president/CEO, Glendale Adventist Medical Center

PASC has over 45 credentialed physicians and a dedicated team of nurses, surgical technicians and administrative staff. It is located in the Lee Hughes Medical Building on campus at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, across from the Emergency Department and connected via sky-bridge to the hospital’s West Tower.

“PASC is unique because it’s on the hospital campus, which offers patients ease and accessibility to the additional services offered by the hospital," said Christine Pierce, business operations manager.

"By PASC working in partnership with the hospital, we can offer the community the very best in health care along with the efficiency of an outpatient surgical setting all supported by the strength of a leading medical center, ” said Lora Altis-Parkurst, administrative director, PASC.

The 15,000 square foot Center has four surgical suites with advanced technology, one general procedure room , two private recovery rooms and patient/family reception area.

Surgeons use the latest methods with specialized state-of-the-art equipment and instruments. The PASC covers a wide range of specialties, including ears, nose, and throat (ENT), general surgery, gynecology, minimally invasive spine, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management, plastic/reconstructive surgery and podiatry.

“Health care is changing rapidly and requires greater efficiencies with tighter economic constraints. PASC can meet those challenges without compromise to excellent, safe, quality care. Our goal is to offer convenient, affordable outpatient surgical services while keeping our patients safe, our number one priority,” said Dr. Philip Merritt, medical director of PASC.
