Willits, CA - "The year was 1976," reflects Bruce Andich, M.D., an Internal Medicine physician who has been serving the Willits community for 38 years – "That's the year I set up my practice."

"But times have changed. More and more regulations and restrictions have been placed on independent medical practitioners. For a variety of reasons I've decided to partner with Adventist Health in forming the Redwood Medical Clinic (RMC). Ultimately, I hope that this site will provide a space for new physicians in this unique community to continue the vision of 'neighbors helping neighbors'. As for me, my plans are to continue working in the clinic one day per week and provide inpatient hospital coverage at the hospital one day per week and one weekend per month – until we're able to recruit new physicians," shared Dr. Andich with a smile.

Adventist Health will help manage the regulation requirements and provide staffing for the office, allowing the practitioners to do what they do best which is to take care of their patients. In addition to Dr. Andich, the office will also be staffed by John Glyer, M.D., Family Practitioner, and Suki Spillner, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Glyer has served the Willits community for 37 years. He will continue seeing adult and pediatric patients. He plans on accepting all patients in recovery from drug and alcohol use as an area of special interest.

According to Dr. Glyer, who also serves as Chief of Staff at Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital (HMH), one of the reasons he is attracted to the RMC is the opportunity to help build a new clinic from the ground up, "The RMC allows me to stay in Willits and work closely with HMH as we build for the future of health care. My perspective after being chief of staff is wider and broader now, and I truly understand how important the relationship is between a practitioner and the hospital and how it benefits the overall health of our community. Together HMH and the RMC can help provide a seamless continuum of care."

Likewise, Ms. Spillner has worked as a primary care provider of adult and pediatric care in Willits for the last 2 years. Ms. Spillner has a local family connection to the community and is also excited to be joining the RMC, "We will bridge gaps in community health care needs serving the local and surrounding communities. I look forward to providing care with the support of a collaborative and connected health care team with an emphasis on achieving positive patient outcomes, management of complex chronic illnesses, health maintenance and patient education. As a nationally board certified family nurse practitioner I am prepared to provide clinically and technically skilled primary care to all ages," shared Ms. Spillner.

The Redwood Medical Clinic is located at 88 Madrone Street in Willits. Dr. Andich will continue seeing his current patients as he will be reducing clinic hours beginning in April. Dr. Glyer will be accepting a limited amount of new patients and continue seeing his current patients, while Suki Spillner, FNP-BC, will be accepting new patients beginning in April.
