Thomas Coon, MD – Founder and Medical Director at Coon Joint Replacement Institute at St. Helena Hospital has been recognized among 125 knee surgeons in the country according to Becker’s Orthopedic, Spine and Pain Management Review. Dr. Coon and other recognized knee surgeons were selected based on awards they received from major organizations in the field, leadership in those organizations, work on professional publications and positions of service at hospitals and surgery centers.  During his career, Dr. Coon has been at the forefront of innovation, pioneering the minimally invasive approach to knee replacement surgery in the US. He helped develop custom instrumentation that is currently used to perform minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty. While continuing to perform more than 600 knee replacements per year, Dr. Thomas Coon also spends time training surgeons around the world in his technique. Dr. Coon earned his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency at Medical College of Ohio. Dr. Coon has performed more than 8000 knee surgeries in his career.
