Hanford, Selma Hospitals Named in Best 100 in General Surgery

HANFORD/SELMA – HealthGrades has named Adventist Medical Centers in Hanford and Selma one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for General Surgery. The recognition honors hospitals that demonstrate surgical and nursing excellence in  bowel obstruction, colorectal, esophageal/stomach, gallbladder removal and small intestine surgeries.

The hospitals also achieved 2014 HealthGrades Excellence Awards in Joint Replacement, ranking among the top 10% in the nation, and an Excellence Award in Gastro Care, ranking among the top 5% in the nation, as announced by HealthGrades in the Hospital Quality Outcomes 2014: HealthGrades Report to the Nation.               

HealthGrades, the leading online resource that helps consumers search, compare and connect with physicians and hospitals, evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 31 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions and identified the 100 best hospitals within each procedure.

The 2014 awards granted to the Adventist Medical Centers are:     

Orthopedic

Joint Replacement Excellence Award, ranking the hospitals among top 10% in nation for joint replacement, two years (2013-2014)

Five-Star Recipient: total knee replacement, five years (2010-2014); and hip fracture treatment, two years (2013-2014)

Gastrointestinal

Gastro Care Excellence Award in 2014, ranking the hospitals among top 5% in nation for gastrointestinal medical treatment

Five-Star Recipient: esophageal/stomach surgery, colorectal surgery, treatment of bowel obstruction, and treatment of pancreatitis

Gynecologic Surgery - Five-Star Recipient for gynecologic surgery, three consecutive years (2011-2013)

The HealthGrades Excellence Award recognizes hospitals for their superior clinical performance and patient outcomes based on data covering one or more medical conditions or procedures in a specialty area. Hospitals receiving Excellence Awards represent the top 5% or 10% of the nation’s full service hospitals and provide consistent high-quality care in specific care areas.
