Star Hospital Volunteer Receives Community Award

A dedicated Simi Valley Hospital volunteer has been honored for his volunteer work at another local organization. Don Novell was selected as the Wayne Templeton Volunteer of the Year, an award presented by the city of Simi Valley to an outstanding volunteer at the Simi Valley Senior Center.

At Simi Valley Hospital, Novell volunteers as the manager of Simi Valley Hospital’s Lifeline Program, which provides a system of equipment and trained responders for people who fall or who otherwise cannot reach a phone during a health-related emergency.

“Don has been a dedicated volunteer at Simi Valley Hospital since 2008,” said Jeremy Brewer, director of Volunteer Services at Simi Valley Hospital. “His leadership of the Lifeline Program enables us to provide an important resource to seniors in our community. Everything Don takes on, he accomplishes. The hospital and the community appreciate his dedication. We are lucky to have his leadership at Simi Valley Hospital!”
