Walla Walla Symphony Brings “Heart Beat” to WWGH

Health News

In partnership with the Walla Walla Symphony, Walla Walla General Hospital is pleased to announce a new music and wellness initiative called “Heart Beat.” Inspired by the tremendous impact that music can have on hospital patients, their families and caregivers, this program will present live-music performances in the hospital lobby, Emergency Department, Same Day Surgery, the Medical/Surgical unit, and other patient care areas.

All concerts will be free and performed by local musicians from Walla Walla Symphony, Walla Walla Youth Symphony Orchestra, and other local community musicians. The first concert will be held on Friday, December 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the main lobby of Walla Walla General Hospital.

Inspiration for “Heart Beat” came from Symphony CEO, Leah Wilson-Velasco, who helped launch “LSO On Call,” a program that provides music in care facilities with Boston’s Longwood Symphony Orchestra. Daily administration of this program will be executed by Whitman Community Fellow, Maya Abramson.
