News

David Weis, DPT, has been appointed Director of Perioperative Services at Ukiah Valley Medical Center. Effective September 10, he will oversee both inpatient surgeries at the hospital and outpatient surgeries at UVMC’s Outpatient Pavilion.

Gwen Matthews, CEO of UVMC shared her decision for appointing Weis to this position, “His unique talents for listening, convening, and collaborating will ensure a strong foundation for operating and growing our surgical services as part of our quest for UVMC to become a Center of Excellence in Rural Health care.”

“Weis has multiple doctorates in physical therapy and a pending MBA, and has currently served as the operations manager for our physical therapy department. We have an incredibly talented clinical team which Weis will compliment immensely as we look toward the future,” continued Matthews.

When asked what he would like to accomplish Weis said, “I want to make sure we have the procedures and services that our community needs and to provide outstanding quality and customer service. One of my mentor's always told me "people don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care." If we can create that environment for our patients, we will be successful. There is already a great team in place within the department and I see my role as implementing a shared vision and bringing the business knowledge we need to be sustainable in future.”

“I will also be partnering with our physicians to try and bring new cutting edge technology and procedures to Ukiah which will benefit everyone in the communities we serve,” continued Weis.
