Walla Walla General Hospital Emergency Center Open House & Tours

Walla Walla General Hospital emergency staff is excited to announce that the wait is over: the new Emergency Center will open to the public this month. The completion of Phase 1 of the transformation took nearly a year and is part of a larger $15 million hospital expansion.

The community is invited to preview the expanded ER at an open house Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The ER is located at 1025 S. Second Ave. Come tour the new space and equipment, meet the new emergency physicians, and enjoy local art and refreshments during the event.

"While the new space is up and running, it’s still only half of the picture," says Linda Givens, director of critical care services at WWGH. "The next step is to remodel the old ER. When that is complete and the two are fully combined, it will really enable us to enhance the care we provide to our patients and position us to meet the needs of our community."

Construction of Phase 2 is expected to be complete late next spring. Together the addition and remodel will include a large, comfortable reception area; private triage and registration areas; latest bedside and diagnostic technology; and modern exam room and areas for specialized and advanced emergency care.

"We are grateful to be able to expand the Emergency Center and the services we offer,” says Monty E. Knittel, President & CEO of WWGH. “Our continued growth and visionary approach to providing health care services to our community is based in the strong support we receive every day."

While the new ER was being constructed, WWGH received Chest Pain Center accreditation, recruited three new full-time emergency physicians, established an emergency cardiac care program, and embarked upon a patient experience journey called the “Power of RE” which RE-thinks the way patients and staff interact in the ER while maintaining our “Wait-Free ER” standard of customer service.
