Rideout Health Thanks its Dietitians on Registered Dietitian Day.

Rideout Press Releases

March is National Nutrition Month and March 14 is the Annual Registered Dietitians (RDs) Day.

Today, Rideout Health recognizes our RDs, also called nutritionists, for their dedicated service to our patients and families.

The goal of this particular day is to increase the awareness of registered dietitians as the indispensable providers of food and nutrition services and to recognize RDs for their commitment to helping people enjoy healthy lives.

As the nation's food and nutrition experts, registered dietitians (RDs) are committed to improving the health of their patients and community.

The theme for 2012 is "Get Your Plate in Shape." At FRHG, we're committed to helping our patients live longer, but also to helping them live better, with a good quality of life. Our RDs want to encourage everyone to include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and dairy on their plates every day.

Registered dietitians are highly qualified food and nutrition experts who meet academic and professional requirements, including earning at least a bachelor's degree, completing a supervised practice program and passing a registration examination. They are able to develop personalized nutrition plans for individuals of all ages.

Inpatient RDs at FRHG work with the medical team to provide nutrition therapy to our patients. They provide education, specialized diets, and make recommendations for nutrition even through feeds (both orally and through feeding tubes) or through IV nutrition.

Our outpatient dietitians not only see patients (with physician referral) at our Outpatient Nutrition office, they also provide educational information at community events.

It's Registered Dietitian Day! What a perfect time to say THANK YOU!
