Tournament Benefits the St. Helena Hospital Heart Institute

April 25, 2012 (St. Helena, California) – St. Helena Hospital will hold its Volley in the Valley Tennis Tournament at Meadowood Napa Valley on Sunday, May 6 and Monday, May 7. The event dinner Sunday, May 6, at the Napa Valley Reserve, will feature celebrity speakers Brad Gilbert and John York, MD.

One of the elite men's tennis players in the 80’s and 90’s, Brad Gilbert reached a career high No. 4 singles player in the world. He is better known today as an ESPN Tennis Analyst and coach to the world’s top pros. Coaching superstars like Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, and Andy Murray, Gilbert has taken these players to the tops of their games. A successful author, Gilbert penned Winning Ugly, an insider’s guide to understanding the mental game of tennis.

John York, MD is the current co-chairman of the San Francisco 49ers. He will provide a glimpse of the 49ers monumental history in the NFL and the high expectations for a successful future under head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Another event highlight is an exhibition match between collegiate players from UC Berkeley and UC Davis which will occur Monday afternoon.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the St. Helena Heart Institute. “"As one of the leading cardiac centers in the area, the St. Helena Heart Institute depends on continued innovation and the ability to attract first rate physicians who can provide comprehensive services with the most advanced treatments possible," said Dr. James Lies, Cardiologist.

"Space is limited and dinner is nearly sold out, so interested parties should act soon," said Fred Miller, the tournament co-chair. The $1,000 tennis fee per player includes four doubles Round Robin tournaments, tennis clinics and a dinner ticket to hear our celebrity speakers. Tickets for dinner only may be purchased for $500 per person.
