- The Howard Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is looking for several new additions to their volunteer team. Positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to partner with physicians and hospital staff members. To volunteer, please contact Jann Lamprich at (707)-459-2777.

Participation opportunities include delivering flowers to patient rooms, welcoming patients and visitors to HMH, hosting events such as patient reunion luncheons, and assisting in individual departments within the hospital. "In the morning, when I'm not in the greatest mood, I get in here and all of a sudden my attitude changes! The smiles pop out as I begin to interact with the people here," Marla Schroeder, Auxiliary Volunteer Treasurer said.

Howard Memorial Hospital's emphasis for 2011 is improving the care provided to our patients. "Part of improving the patient experience is strengthening the Auxiliary," Terry Hansen, interim president and CEO at HMH said. "These volunteers are the stars behind the scenes. They are on the front lines of making HMH sparkle from the inside out."

The auxiliary also participate in the HomeTown Healthy Fair, Project Honduras, and support fundraising efforts for hospital purchases of equipment. In 2010, the HMH Auxiliary members volunteered a total of 3,507 hours.

"As our hospital continues to grow, the need for volunteers also grows," Lamprich said. "We are proud of our organization and encourage volunteers to join our group. If you have thoughts about "giving back" to your community, we may be just what you are looking for. We are Neighbors helping Neighbors."
