Community Event Celebrates Selma Hospital Name Change to Adventist Medical Center - Selma

SELMA – To reflect a shared license with Adventist Medical Center - Hanford and the unity of Adventist Health services throughout the Valley, Adventist Health / Central Valley Network will re-name its Selma hospital as Adventist Medical Center - Selma at a Dedication and Blessing Ceremony on June 28.

The ceremony, at 5:30 p.m. outside the hospital on 1141 Rose Ave.in Selma, will include a formal unveiling of a sign with the new name followed by a reception with refreshments, entertainment, children’s activities and a Heritage Trail depicting the hospital’s history.

City and hospital leaders, hospital and foundation board members, community members, employees, physicians and volunteers will attend.

“The event gives us a chance to re-dedicate ourselves to our mission, vision and values and thank our community for supporting the hospital,” said Richard L. Rawson, Adventist Health Corporate vice president of Central California.

“Thanks to the hard work of our staff, physicians and volunteers and the support of our community, the Selma hospital is gaining an identity as a regional health care resource as we care for more patients from throughout southern Fresno County,” he said. “We have added many services in Selma, and are caring for many more patients.”

Expansion plans for the hospital include a new three-story medical office building to house outpatient surgery, lab and medical imaging services.

Adventist Health is also growing in the eastern part of southern Fresno County. With voter approval in a special election on June 7, the nonprofit health care network is preparing to begin operating Sierra Kings District Hospital in Reedley and its five clinics.

Network and district leaders are finalizing the agreement for Adventist Health to own and operate the 49-bed hospital and its clinics in Reedley, Parlier, Dinuba and Orange Cove. The projected starting date is Sept. 1, 2011. Eventually, the hospital will also be re-named Adventist Medical Center - Reedley.

Adventist Health / Central Valley Network also operates Adventist Medical Center - Hanford and Central Valley General Hospital inHanford, 18 Community Care clinics and more than 20 other locations in the Valley.
