Walla Walla General Hospital Provides Free Screenings for American Heart Month

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Heart disease is the number one killer of women each year, taking the life of 1 in every 3 women. In fact, 433,000 American women die each year due to heart disease. It is important for men and women alike to put efforts into maintaining a healthy heart by learning how to eat a well-balanced diet, exercise routinely, and become educated about the disease and its risk factors.

Walla Walla General Hospital invites all community members to help raise awareness for heart disease globally and locally.

WWGH has several events planned in honor of American Heart Month:

1. Employees at Walla Walla General Hospital invite you to join us in wearing red on Friday, Feb. 4, to raise awareness of women’s heart disease.

2. WWGH is offering free screenings in our HealthVan throughout the community to help identify risk factors relating to heart disease.

Beginning Sunday, Feb. 20, the Health Van will be traveling to different locations around Walla Walla during the week. Community members are invited to stop by the HealthVan to have their blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar checked and to discuss next steps if they have elevated numbers.
