Former Surgeon General Dr. Antonia Coello Novello To Speak On “Healthcare Reform, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly” February 27

Community Invited To Free Presentation At Elmshaven Church, St. Helena

ST. HELENA, Calif., — Antonia Coello Novello, MD, MPH, Dr. PH, the 14th Surgeon General of the U.S. Public Health Service, will present her views on recently enacted healthcare reform legislation on Sunday February 27 at the Elmshaven Church, 15 Woodland Road, St. Helena. This free community program starts at 5 pm.

Dr. Novello was appointed the 14th Surgeon General of the U.S. Public Health Service in 1990, becoming the first woman and the first Hispanic ever to hold this position. She is an expert on national healthcare policy and the legislative process. While working at the National Institutes of Health, she gained considerable experience on Capitol Hill working with the Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Public Health Policy at Florida Hospital.

Elmshaven Church is located next to St. Helena Hospital (across from the Emergency Room). Doors open at 4 p.m. for the 5 pm. Presentation.
