San Joaquin Community Hospital to Host Heart and Stroke Expo at the 12th Annual Via Arte

Event Through an innovative partnership, San Joaquin Community Hospital has teamed up with the Bakersfield Museum of Art to hold the first-ever Heart and Stroke Expo at the 12th Annual Via Arte. The expo will be held from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on October 10 at The Marketplace (9000 Ming Ave.).

As the only hospital between Los Angeles and San Francisco with both a Nationally Accredited Chest Pain Center and Nationally Certified Stroke Center under the same roof, SJCH is committed to the health and well-being of the entire Kern County community through providing exceptional care and community education. During The Heart and Stroke Expo, hospital staff from the Chest Pain and Stroke Centers, as well as The SJCH Wellness Center and Bariatric Solutions, will be on hand to provide health screenings and tips for living better. Screenings available include blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose levels and more. In addition, there will be tips and information on healthy eating, diabetes management and weight-loss.

“Heart attack and stroke are two of the three top killers in America today,” said Jarrod McNaughton, SJCH vice president for Marketing and Development. “At [SJCH] we’re continually asking ourselves how we can give better treatment for our local community. In addition, we understand that our role is also to provide resources and education on how to stop heart attacks and strokes before they happen. Thanks to the Bakersfield Museum of Art, the Heart and Stroke Expo is a new opportunity to do just that.”
