Walla Walla General Hospital Announces Gala 2010

Decorated Veteran Charlie Plumb Headlines the Heartwarming Event

Walla Walla General Hospital’s annual Gala will be held Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Marcus Whitman Hotel & Conference Center in Walla Walla. Our featured guest for Gala 2010 is Charlie Plumb, a decorated fighter pilot and former prisoner of war.
Plumb is a former jet fighter pilot and decorated combat veteran who was shot down on his 75th mission over Vietnam. He parachuted into enemy hands and spent nearly six years in Communist prison camps. After being repatriated in 1973, Plumb was awarded the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit and the POW Medal.
Instrumental in starting the flight school now known as Top Gun, Plumb is also an author, a consultant for the U.S. Navy, and an inspiring, sought-after speaker.
The elegant evening will be complete with great food and a live auction with Gale Crosby, renowned entertaining auctioneer from Portland. “The Gala is a graceful, delicious heartwarming event and a wonderful way to support award-winning health care in our community,” says John C. Cress, executive director of the Walla Walla General Hospital Foundation.
Proceeds from the event will be used to support the Enhancing the Healing Environment campaign to completely remodel patient rooms in the med/surg unit of the hospital. “We’ve been planning Gala 2010 with you in mind. I hope you’ll join us,” invites Cress.
