SJCH Partners with the Arts Council of Kern for "A Grand Affair of the Heart"

Event On Thursday, Oct. 7, San Joaquin Community Hospital (SJCH) and The Arts Council of Kern proudly present “A Grand Affair of the Heart.”

The gala-like event, which will be held at the Bakersfield Doubletree Hotel, is a celebration of the hospital’s 100-Year Anniversary. Fittingly, the event falls on Oct. 7 – the first day of SJCH’s next 100 years. A Grand Affair of the Heart will feature dinner, a silent auction, and the evening’s main event – a live auction featuring 10 hand-crafted “hearts,” custom-made by local artists for this special evening. Proceeds from the event benefit the SJCH Foundation, which helps bring new programs and services to the hospital.

In the last few years, the SJCH Foundation has been an integral part of helping the hospital provide high-quality health care to the communities of Kern County. After enhancing the physical campus with the addition of a new patient tower in 2007, SJCH became the first and only hospital between Los Angeles and San Francisco to have both a Nationally Certified Stroke Center and a Nationally Accredited Chest Pain Center under one roof. Most recently, the hospital brought Bakersfield its first full-treatment burn center which left an immeasurable impact on more than 300 patients in the first year of operation.

“At San Joaquin Community Hospital, we’re dedicated to providing the highest quality patient care for our community. But we can’t do it without the support of our great community” said Kevin Burton, SJCH Foundation president/executive director. “Fortunately, we’re blessed to have an extremely generous community who has continually given of their time and resources. The overwhelming support we’ve received for A Grand Affair of the Heart is just the latest example.”
