SJCH Wins National Judge's Choice Award for Sacred Work Campaign, along with Four Additional Awards
The San Joaquin Community Hospital (SJCH) Marketing Department has won a Judge’s Choice Aster Award for their 2009 Sacred Work Campaign. From approximately 3,000 entries in the Aster Awards Program, only eight were chosen nationwide for a Judge’s Choice Award. In addition, the Marketing team received four other Aster Awards for their work
in 2009.
In 2008, San Joaquin Community Hospital launched Sacred Work, a “culture shift” centered on empowering SJCH staff and caregivers to treat themselves, their patients, fellow employees, family members, physicians and community as they would want to be treated themselves. The Marketing Department created collateral materials that quantified Sacred Work and provided employees with ways to practically implement it into their daily routine. The Sacred Work Manual was first launched during a two-day stretch in January 2009 that included one-hour sessions for all hospital staff members. Other materials, such as Conversations That Count and ICARE followed in 2009. The Sacred Work Campaign will be featured in the May/June issue of Marketing Healthcare Today, a national healthcare publication.
“Over the past few years, Sacred Work has dramatically changed the culture here at San Joaquin Community Hospital,” said Jarrod McNaughton, SJCH vice president of Marketing and Development. “Our Marketing team has worked tirelessly to create materials that communicate the spirit of Sacred Work to our hospital family. To win such a prestigious award is always special. But winning for our Sacred Work Campaign makes it that much better.”
Here is a complete list of SJCH’s 2010 Aster Awards:
- Gold Award for “Become Campaign” a hospital recruitment campaign
- Silver Award “Health Matters – Fall 2009” the hospital’s community newsletter
- Silver Award for “Men in Gowns Ad” in the Bakersfield Magazine
- Silver Award for “Lights and Sirens Golf Invitational Letterhead and Logo”
- The Aster Awards Program is an elite competition recognizing the nation's most talented healthcare marketing professionals for outstanding excellence in advertising.
To qualify for the awards, the Marketing team submitted professional samples for each of the categories this spring. In addition to the Marketing team, many individuals and organizations played a vital part in creating these award-winning pieces. SJCH would like to thank Suzanne Satterfield Consulting, Willis Design, McDuff Graphics and Marketing, Coffey Communications, Shepherd Design, Corum Communications, and Bakersfield Magazine for their contributions.
“This past year was a banner year for our hospital,” McNaughton said. “It’s great to see our team recognized on a national level for their contributions to that success.”
These five awards are in addition to the nine awards already given to the hospital in April by the Healthcare Marketing Report. This brings the total awards received by SJCH’s marketing and communication team to 14 for the hospital’s work in 2009.
