Sleep Lab Receives Accreditation as a Sleep Center

Walla Walla, WA--Walla Walla General Hospital is pleased to announce the recent accreditation as a sleep center by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

To receive this five-year accreditation, sleep labs must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designed by the academy. The process included a detailed inspection of the facility and staff, an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts and physician training. The sleep lab's goals must also be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves.

At Walla Walla General Hospital sleep lab patients undergo sleep studies in a comfortable, private room. The lab's Medical Director is Kam Atwal, DO, (Diplomat ABSM, Fellow AASM), who reviews interprets and provides recommendations for each study done in our lab. In addition, Richard Felt, MD, (Certified American Board of Pulmonary Diseases, Certified American Board of Internal Medicine) is now available to meet with patients before and after their study and can develop a long-term follow-up plan of care.
