Volunteer Opportunities

Just as the skills and talents of our volunteers at Adventist Health Bakersfield vary, so do the opportunities for service.

Volunteer opportunities at Adventist Health Bakersfield include:

  • The Gift Gallery: The boutique-style gift shop at Adventist Health Bakersfield is always looking for volunteers who can help customers find that special item. Various shifts are available at the Gift Gallery and training is provided.
  • General Assistance: Volunteers also assist and direct visitors, help on the nursing floors, the Emergency Department, and Maternity Care Center.
  • "Angels in the ER" Program: By focusing on the Emergency Department, volunteers can help ease stressful situations that can arise from an ER visit, often the site of a patient's first introduction to the medical center. The volunteers for this program will offer non-medical assistance to patients and their families, allowing ER staff to focus on patient care.
  • COPE Health Scholar Program The Health Scholar program allows you to gain first-hand experience in both clinical and administrative health care settings and become an integral part of the care delivery team. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in, accepted or graduated from an accredited university or college. Learn more here.
