Once again, Adventist Health Bakersfield was awarded an A by The Leapfrog Group for its commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. Adventist Health Bakersfield is the only hospital in Kern County to receive an A rating four times in a row.

Developed under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

For the 2018 Report to the Nation, Healthgrades compared Specialty Excellence Award Recipients as a group, to all other hospitals, as a group, and found: From 2014 - 2016, patients treated at hospitals receiving the America's 100 Best Hospitals for Prostate Surgery Award have, on average a 59.4 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.
