Sam Itani
In his position as Operations Executive, Sam Itani oversees Adventist Health Bakersfield’s ongoing operations and procedures and is responsible for labor management, quality, compliance, process improvement and business strategies.
Sam’s role places him over day-to-day operations of the entire hospital
as well as a wide range of service lines and departments that are vital
to the medical center’s overall success. These areas include the
Adventist Health AIS Cancer Center, Quest Imaging, Outpatient Surgery
Center, Diagnostic Imaging, Pharmacy, Brain and Spine, Cardiovascular,
Orthopedic, Bariatrics, Infection Prevention/Quality, Risk/Regulatory,
Operational Excellence, Laboratory, Safety/Security, Plant Operations,
Nutrition Services, Clinical Engineering, Materials Management, Transportation,
Environmental Services and Construction.
Sam attended college at Colorado Technical University, where he graduated
with degrees in biomedical engineering and electronic engineering technology.
He then attended Pittsburg State University in Kansas, receiving his master’s
in clinical technology in 1989. Along with his degrees, Sam is also a
Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
In 2006, Sam became the Vice President for Ambulatory and Professional
Services at Adventist Health Bakersfield. Since then, Sam has been instrumental
in the master planning of many facets of the Adventist Health Bakersfield
campus. This includes designing and building of the Adventist Health AIS
Cancer Center and Quest Imaging as well as playing an integral role in
the planning and building of the 130-bed hospital expansion.
Sam and his wife, Ghina, have two children, Maya and Tarek. Whether traveling
to Tarek’s hockey matches or watching the Bakersfield Condors, most
of the Itanis’ free time revolves around the sport of hockey, which
they acquired a love for during their time in Canada.
