Misty Cantrell

Operations Executive

Our Operations Executive for Adventist Health Kern County, Misty Cantrell, has been with our organization since 2003. Misty began as a staff nurse in Adventist Health Bakersfield’s Intensive Care Unit more than 18 years ago.

She has since worked in a number of positions with Adventist Health, including manager of surgical services and sterile processing, director of the outpatient surgery center and as an associate vice president for our physicians network.

In 2018, Misty was named as AHTV’s patient care executive. Misty led the team at Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley (AHTV) as well as medical offices in Tehachapi, Mojave and California City. This position oversaw nursing and daily operations of all clinical services. Since early 2021, as part of our Adventist Health Kern County restructure plan, Misty has served as PCE for our nursing team at Adventist Health Delano as well.

Misty will oversee a wide range of service lines and departments vital to our overall success for Adventist Health Kern County, including cardiovascular, brain and spine, laboratory, clinical engineering and other areas under our partner contractors, JLL, Crothall and Morrison, such as plant operations, transportation and environmental services.

Together with Heather Van Housen – our patient care executive with an overall responsibility for nursing care across our Kern County markets – Misty will continue to coordinate her time at our Delano and Tehachapi campuses.

Misty and her husband, Matt Cantrell, are the parents of six children and two grandchildren. They enjoy getaway camping trips in their fifth-wheel trailer and visiting family in Illinois and South Carolina when possible. Misty is currently working on a Ph.D. in health services from Walden University. She received her Master of Science and an MBA with an emphasis on health care at the University of Phoenix in 2016.
