Adventist Health Bakersfield (AHB) is pleased to provide the Adventist Health (AH) RN Residency Program, the very best in new graduate nurse orientation. The AH RN Residency is a paid, structured orientation and professional development program designed to ease the transition from new graduate to professional nurse. The RN Residency promotes safe practice, knowledge development, and self-confidence by bridging the gap from novice nurse to competent team member.

Program Highlights

  • Individualized learning and orientation plan
  • Immersion period – 12-18 week orientation (length dependent on specialty)
  • Increased time at the bedside; decreased time in the classroom
  • Paired with an engaged preceptor – "the married state"
  • Professional and emotional support continues throughout the first year and the Resident's development from novice, to competent clinical team member

AH RN Residency Application Process

  1. Visit our careers site. Use the two search bars to search for "nursing" in Bakersfield. This will open up a list of online applications for the AH Bakersfield RN Residency specific to the nursing unit you most prefer to work.

    • RN Resident Labor and Delivery (L&D)
    • RN Resident Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

    • RN Resident Medical Surgical Unit (MS)
    • RN Operating Room - Circulator

  4. Digital introduction – After submission of the electronic application you will receive an invitation to complete a digital "interview"
