Patient Safety Philosophy
CEO Message
At Adventist Health we know that quality health care is at the top of your priority list. We also know that getting it right requires a distinctive blend of technology, expertise and caring. To that end, we’re working hard to ensure that we deliver on our distinctive mission by providing holistic care that not only meets your needs but also exceeds your expectations.
Systemwide, we’ve made significant progress in achieving important quality goals in recent years. As a result, aggregate system scores are in the top 40 percent of hospitals nationally for acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical improvement quality measures—and several Adventist Health hospitals currently rank among the nation’s top 10 percent in these areas. Hospitals also are compared nationally in mortality rates, and patients are less likely to die in facilities with adjusted mortality index scores of less than one. Currently, Adventist Health, as a system, has an adjusted mortality index score of less than one when compared to a national comparison group with similar patient characteristics.
I invite you to explore this portion of our Web site to find out the many ways in which we’re working toward providing excellent care and service—in our hospitals, home care agencies and various clinics. I also encourage you to read about what you can do to assist us in providing you the safest care when you visit one of our hospitals in the “Partnering with Providers” section.
Sincerely,
Robert G. Carmen
