Simi Valley Hospital Gets Approval to Move into New Patient Tower

In June, Simi Valley Hospital received approval from the California State Department of Public Health to move into its new patient tower. On June 17, employees and patients began occupying the new tower. The move into the new Patient Care Tower followed a May 4 dedication ceremony that attracted hundreds of community residents. The hospital received its certificate of occupancy for the new building from the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) May 12. After an inspection by state public health officials June 9, hospital administration received a fax from the health department giving SVH the go-ahead to occupy the Patient Care Tower. The hospital now plans to demolish the original 1965 hospital building, which will make room for a spacious, new 7,000-square-foot lobby that will take approximately 10 months to complete.
