Simi Valley Hospital Debuts New Sterile Processing Equipment

Simi Valley Hospital recently installed new sterile processing equipment that is faster and safer than previous technology. Recently the hospital installed a state-of-the-art STERRAD® sterilization system to clean and sterilize surgical equipment and instruments. The new machine is part of the hospital’s recent $1.5 million investment in new technology and equipment and does in less than an hour what used to take 16 hours to complete! In addition to quick turnaround, STERRAD® offers another distinct advantage over the previous equipment. While the old machine sterilized with the potentially hazardous ethylene oxide gas, STERRAD® employs a combination of hydrogen peroxide vapor and low-temperature gas plasma. The byproducts of this process are oxygen and water, which is much safer for employees and the environment!
