New Surgery Center Debuts at White Memorial Medical Center
White Memorial Medical Center has opened a new surgery center after receiving licensing approval from the California Department of Health Care Services. The hospital’s new Los Angeles Surgery Center (LASC) is dedicated solely to same-day surgeries and GI procedures. With four outpatient operating suites and two GI labs, the LASC nearly doubles WMMC’s operating room capacity. This allows the hospital to accommodate more inpatient surgeries while attracting new outpatient surgical business.
The majority of outpatient surgery cases will now be performed in the LASC, and the operating rooms in the Specialty Care Tower will be used primarily for inpatient procedures. This increase in capacity, as well as the availability of a facility dedicated to outpatient procedures, should significantly reduce patient wait times for both outpatient and inpatient surgeries, and improve patient and physician satisfaction.
