Longo Named Corporate Compliance Officer for Adventist Health
Kevin Longo was promoted to assistant vice president and Corporate Compliance Officer for Adventist Health in a board decision January 28. According to Robert G. Carmen, president and CEO of the Roseville, California-based health system, the decision signifies the organization’s commitment to compliance and maintaining ethical responsibilities in the marketplace.
“Our compliance program provides a standard for ethical behavior and a reporting system for notifying management of potential ethical breaches,” said Carmen. “But more than that, it is a demonstration of our commitment to integrity and stewardship, key concepts in our mission.”
Director of the Compliance department since 1997, Longo will report directly to the CEO and have full access to the Adventist Health Board of Directors, a significant change in reporting structures for the organization.
“Kevin is thoughtful and conscientious, and has a proven track record of leading compliance initiatives in our organization including Code of Conduct training throughout all of our business units,” added Carmen. “I am confident that he will continue to lead our organization along the right path in regards to compliance issues.”
In Longo’s new role, he will oversee the system’s formalized compliance program, which consists of written policies, procedures and a code of conduct. These are designed to prevent, detect and correct violations of applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Longo began his 25-year career with Adventist Health as an accounts payable clerk at St. Helena Hospital in the Napa Valley. He also worked in the corporate Audit and Budget/Reimbursement departments. Later, Longo served as CFO at Monument Valley Hospital in Monument Valley, Utah.
Longo holds a bachelor’s degree in Management from Sonoma State University in Sonoma, California, and bachelor’s degree in Theology from Pacific Union College in Angwin, California. He also has a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and is a certified public accountant in California. Additionally, Longo is certified in health care compliance by the Compliance Certification Board.
