Jakobsen Named VP/COO of Adventist Health Physician Services

December 16, 2011 (Roseville, CA) — Dag Jakobsen has been named vice president and COO of Physician Services for Adventist Health, according to Jeff Conklin, president and CEO of Adventist Health Physician Services. Jakobsen assumed his new position in Roseville December 1, 2011.
 
In his new role, Jakobsen will oversee operations for Physician Services, with responsibilities for physician practices across the system to include rural health clinics, hospital-based clinics, employed physicians and those that are part of Adventist Health Physicians Network (AHPN) in California.

“Dag’s vast experience with physician practice operations makes him uniquely qualified to address challenges across our four-state system. His proven ability to successfully strengthen clinical performance and quality while reducing operational costs will greatly benefit physician services,” said Conklin.

Most recently, Jakobsen was a senior vice president with PivotHealth. While with PivotHealth, he was engaged by Catholic Healthcare West as the COO for their medical foundation. During this almost seven year time period he led the operation of significant growth of the medical foundation, and the development of a culture focused on customer service, quality patient care, physician satisfaction and employee engagement. He successfully deployed  EHR, PACS and practice management systems throughout northern California, as well as the planning and building of 20 outpatient medical office buildings. Jakobsen also has extensive experience developing and running successful disease and population management and hospitalist programs.

Jakobsen was also previously the chief business officer for the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine.

Prior to that role, he was the vice president of operations for Talbert Medical Group and also worked with Cogent HealthCare, the largest private hospitalist company in the U.S.

Jakobsen has a bachelor's degree in business administration, emphasis in management, from Newbold College and an MBA with emphasis in finance and accounting from the Rollins College Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business.

He is married to Joelle, a general/trauma surgeon. They live in Sacramento.
