Adventist Health/Home Care Services Announces New Appointments
December 2, 2011 (Roseville, CA) – Mark Ashlock, senior vice president for network and physician strategies, has announced that Richard L. Rawson, vice president of Adventist Health, is adding president of Adventist Health/Home Care Services to his portfolio of responsibilities. Kirby McKague, chief financial officer for Adventist Health Physician Services, is adding CFO responsibilities for Home Care Services. Rawson will report to Ashlock for this new role.
“Adventist Health is expanding the scope and footprint of our home care services in order to operate more successfully under health care reform. As an indication of the importance of this expansion, we are pleased that Rick and Kirby have agreed to enlarge their responsibilities to include home care services, while continuing with their existing roles,” said Ashlock.
Rawson will focus on home care strategies that complement the system’s vision and strategic plan, develop new business opportunities and oversee growth and acquisitions that add to Adventist Health’s overall portfolio. This additional role supplements his on-going work in service expansion, community outreach, growth and industry relationships within California’s Central Valley, as he oversaw the acquisitions of three hospitals and expanded the Central Valley Network. Rawson will remain based in Hanford, Calif., and continues reporting to Scott Reiner, executive vice president and COO for Adventist Health.
McKague will oversee financial operations for home care services across the system, which accompanies his work with physician services that includes financial oversight for rural health clinics, hospital-based clinics, employed physicians and Adventist Health Physician Network (AHPN). McKague has a dual reporting relationship to Jeff Conklin, president of AHPN, and Rawson for home care responsibilities.
These two new roles fill out the home care services leadership team that also includes Sherry Mendoza, chief operations officer.
Adventist Health/Home Care Services has more than 600 employees and 14 agencies that offer an array of services—personal care, hospice, home medical equipment, infusion therapy and more. Home care services continues to develop greater synergy with our acute care hospitals and other business development efforts—especially in the context of health care reform. Last year alone, home care services had more than 210,000 home care visits and more than 85,000 hospice days.
Rawson was previously the president/CEO of the Central Valley Network and has held a progression of administrative and executive leadership roles within Adventist Health. Rawson was involved in three hospital acquisitions for Adventist Health: Central Valley General Hospital in 1998, Selma Community Hospital in 1999 and Sierra Kings District Hospital in 2011. Additionally, he consolidated the Central Valley Network in 2005 and oversaw construction of the new Adventist Medical Center – Hanford. Rawson is also chair-elect of the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California and will assume the position of chair in January 2012.
Rawson holds a bachelor of science in Business Administration from Loma Linda University and an MBA from California State University, Bakersfield.
