Two Adventist Health hospitals recently installed the latest in robotic surgery in the form of the da Vinci Surgical System. Both Adventist Medical Center and Glendale Adventist Medical Center recently installed the new equipment that will enable physicians at both facilities to transform the way certain procedures are done.

At AMC, the robotic system initially will be used for urology and gynecology procedures, and the technology has clinical applications for many other specialties. Surgeons at GAMC will use the equipment to perform minimally invasive surgeries, including hysterectomy and prostatectomy. GAMC is one of only a few hospitals its the area to have the da Vinci system that features two operating consoles, allowing two surgeons to operate at once. The technology provides physicians with superior visualization, enhanced dexterity and precision. For the patient, a robotic procedure offers the benefits of a minimally invasive approach, resulting in less pain, decreased blood loss and quicker healing times.
