Glendale Adventist Medical Center Holds Topping Out Ceremony

Glendale Adventist Medical Center recently marked its Phase II and III construction milestone with a special celebration. Hospital employees, physicians and volunteers, along with representatives and construction workers from J.R. Abbott Construction, applauded and cheered as the final steel beam of GAMC’s newest building was hoisted and welded into the steel structure at the Topping Out Ceremony.

In accordance with Scandinavian tradition tied to other similar ceremonies, the beam was painted white, adorned with an American flag, a small tree and signed by GAMC and Abbott employees. It represents the completion of the supporting steel structure of the new building. At the ceremony, held on the construction site, Abbott also presented GAMC and Adventist Health with commemorative “I-beams” to mark the occasion and represent the great working relationship that exists between the two organizations.
