Glendale Adventist Medical Center Becomes Advanced Primary Stroke Center
Glendale Adventist Medical Center recently became the first Advanced Primary Stroke Center in Los Angeles County, earning the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission for Advanced Primary Stroke Centers. To earn this distinction, a program undergoes an extensive, unannounced, on-site evaluation by a team of Joint Commission reviewers every two years. The program is evaluated against Joint Commission standards through an assessment of a program’s processes, the program’s ability to evaluate and improve care within its own organization, and interviews with patients and staff. The goal of the hospital’s Primary Stroke Center is to improve patient outcomes through an organized system of care by organizing standardized protocols, physician resources, nursing education and training, patient education and technological support.
In addition, the American Stroke Association recently awarded the hospital with a Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Bronze Performance Achievement Award. The award recognizes the facility’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted standards and recommendations.
