Feather River Hospital Teams up with Stanford
Feather River Hospital’s Cancer Center recently was accepted by Stanford Medical Center to participate in state-of-the-art cancer research studies. Specifically, the hospital has partnered with the Stanford Cancer Center in the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) to provide ECOG clinical trials in its community. It is the only hospital in the region to be awarded with this status.
The studies will be conducted under the direction of Board Certified Oncologist, Sam Mazj, M.D. Patients will have the unique opportunity of access to promising new drugs while also receiving conventional treatment for their cancer.
In addition, the hospital’s cancer program recently received notice of approval for accreditation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACOS). The Commission on Cancer granted a three-year accreditation with commendation to the program. FRH has the only accredited ACoS CoC cancer program in Butte County.
