Feather River Hospital Opens Joint Replacement Center
Feather River Hospital’s new Joint Replacement Center of Excellence incorporates a comprehensive approach, starting with a structured pre-admitting session for the patient that provides education about recovery and rehabilitation in addition to information about the surgical procedure itself. In addition, patients receive a notebook, specific to either hip or knee replacement, to guide them through the joint replacement process. These notebooks not only explain what causes the need for replacement and what is done during the procedure, but also what will be happening during each step of the process including pre-op, the hospital stay and transition back home. A list of precautions and preparations are given, as well as instructions for exercises, so joint replacement patients know what to expect and how to prepare for a procedure.
