Feather River Hospital Among Top in Nation for Emergency Care

Feather River Hospital has been named among the top hospitals in the nation for emergency care based on a recent study by HealthGrades. The independent health care ratings organization has declared the hospital’s emergency medicine care to be in the top 5 percent in the nation. As a result, the facility is a proud recipient of the HealthGrades 2010 Emergency Medicine Excellence Award™.

Of the 4,900 hospitals examined for their mortality rates in 11 of the most common emergent conditions for Medicare patients, only 255 received this award. More notably, only 26 other hospitals in the state of California were recognized for these superior patient outcomes. The First Annual HealthGrades Emergency Medicine in American Hospitals™ study found that as a group, FRH and the other award recipients had a 39 percent lower mortality rate for the 11 conditions studied. The mortality rates were risk-adjusted so that hospitals with sicker and older patients could be compared on equal footing with other facilities
