Davis Resigns as President/CEO of Sonora Regional Medical Center

Lary Davis has resigned as president and CEO of Sonora Regional Medical Center effective, September 30, 2008, according to Larry Dodds, executive vice president/COO of Adventist Health and board chairman of the hospital.

“We appreciate what Lary has accomplished at SRMC during his 19-year tenure as CEO,” said Dodds. “Under his leadership a new 72-bed acute care replacement hospital was built along with a medical office building. In addition, he developed strong employee, physician and community relationships, and skillfully managed an influx of patients and consolidated services when the area’s county hospital closed. We wish Lary all the best as he pursues his next career opportunity.”

In a memo to employees, volunteers and medical staff, Davis wrote, “I have worked at this organization since 1986 and this is a good time for me to transition both for my career growth and my family. This organization now is positioned for the next level and it is my prayer that a new leader will take this hospital there.”

Prior to becoming CEO of SRMC, Davis served for three years as the facility’s chief financial officer. He also has held other roles within Adventist Health since starting in 1977 as an accounting clerk at White Memorial Medical Center, in Los Angeles.

Davis holds a bachelor’s degree in Management from Loma Linda University. In addition, he completed the Executive Graduate Program in Health Care Financial Management, University of Colorado.

According to Dodds, an executive search for Davis’ replacement will begin as soon as possible.
