Corker to Retire as President of Managed Care for Adventist Health

Rodney Corker has announced his retirement as president of Managed Care for Adventist Health, according to Robert G. Carmen, president and CEO of Adventist Health. After 20 years with the company, Corker will conclude his service at the end of the year.

“We regretfully accept Rodney’s decision to retire,” stated Carmen. “But we are happy that he has decided to consult with Adventist Health through the end of the year to provide continuity and ensure a smooth transition within our payer community. His leadership in the managed care arena has been invaluable and we will miss his contributions greatly.”

In his most recent role, Corker was responsible for developing and coordinating managed care strategies and payer contracting within Adventist Health. Corker also represented the system with professional and consumer groups to strengthen the image and appreciation of Adventist Health as a leader of managed care in California.

Previously, Corker oversaw contracting for the Southern California facilities: Southern California Medical Foundation, Loma Linda University Medical Center and Loma Linda University Healthcare.

Prior to working with Adventist Health, Corker completed a doctorate in public health at UCLA, concentrating on health care economics and health services management. He also is a qualified occupational therapist and worked as a university lecturer.

Stepping into Corker’s role is Jeff Conklin. Currently, Conklin works as COO of Bright Health Physicians of PIH, Inc., where he is responsible for all operations, managed care contracting and business development.

“With more than 20 years in health care leadership, Jeff will bring extensive experience and expertise to the managed care role,” said Carmen. Conklin will start in the Ontario office October 15 to work with Corker until the end of the year.

Conklin earned a master’s in public health with an emphasis in health services management from UCLA and a bachelor’s in behavioral science at Cal Poly-Pomona. He also is a diplomate in the American College of Healthcare Executives and on the boards of several prestigious not-for-profit organizations.
