Christian Resigns as President/CEO of South Coast Medical Center

Bruce Christian has announced his resignation as president/CEO of South Coast Medical Center effective, March 15, 2009, according to Robert G. Carmen, president/CEO of Adventist Health as well as board chairman of the medical center.

“We appreciate the leadership, hard work and dedication that Bruce has provided to SCMC during his tenure as CEO,” said Carmen. “We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Recently, Adventist Health and St. Joseph Health System’s Mission Hospital signed an asset purchase agreement (APA) in the sale of SCMC, which has been submitted to the Office of Attorney General of the State of California (AG). This legal and regulatory review process is currently underway but both organizations are optimistic that the AG’s office will approve the APA.

According to Carmen, Teresa Day, vice president for Adventist Health, will continue to manage the transaction process for the Laguna Beach facility. Andrea Kofl, chief operating officer/CNO, will oversee the day-to-day operations.

SCMC is committed to its mission of serving patients during this transition and will continue to provide high quality care and service.
