Ashlock Named Senior VP for Adventist Health

Mark Ashlock has been appointed senior vice president for Adventist Health, according to Bob Carmen, president and CEO. Ashlock will assume his position early this month.

In his new role, Ashlock will work with physicians and medical groups to coordinate local strategies with system hospitals, including the development of models for physician alignment programs. He also will work on strategies for physician joint ventures and ancillary services to align the system’s business units with physicians enterprise-wide. Ashlock also will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the system’s rural health clinics and other Adventist Health owned medical practices. In addition, he will provide assistance in dealing with payer and managed care issues.

“We’re pleased to have Mark join Adventist Health and round out our executive team,” stated Carmen, who waited several years to fill the fifth senior management slot at the organization’s corporate office. “He knows our system well and has invaluable expertise when it comes to dealing with physicians and medical groups, as well as developing network strategies.”

Ashlock has more than 25 years of experience in providing services to physicians, medical groups, hospitals, payers and other related health care providers. He also has directed the formation of multi-specialty, management service organizations, medical foundations and physician hospital organizations.

Before joining Adventist Health, Ashlock was president of Ashlock & Valentine, CPAs, a role he held for more than two decades. Prior to that, he spent seven years with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young.

Ashlock received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, California. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California and a Certified Valuation Analyst.
