Adventist Health Sponsors Largest Number of Teams at CIM
November 29, 2011 (Roseville, CA) – Adventist Health is the largest corporate entrant at this year's 29th Annual California International Marathon (CIM), taking place on Sunday, December 4 in Sacramento, California.
The Roseville-based organization and its runners are not only "talking the talk" but "running the talk" as a health care system engaged in healthy, family-friendly activity with great team spirit. Adventist Health will have 35 relay teams with more than 120 people taking part in the marathon.
Many of those participating are preparing for the big day—exercising regularly and proudly wearing t-shirts that say, "We are AH-some!"
A field of 8,000 marathoners and 4,000 relay runners is expected for the 26.2 mile race from Folsom to the state Capitol. Ranked as the 14th largest marathon in the country, the CIM has doubled in size since 2005, when it featured 4,000 runners. The course, which passes through Folsom, Orangevale, Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks and Carmichael before reaching Sacramento, is slightly downhill, with weather conditions normally cool enough to help produce fast times. The marathon began in 1983 and is now known as a great race to earn a Boston Marathon qualifying time.
